Trip to Lake Vernwy

The Dam at Lake Vyrnwy Holly, Ellen and I took a small trip to mid-north wales last weekend and went for a walk and a drive around Lake Vernwy. The Dam at Vernwy was the 1st UK design to allow water to fall directly over the dam, giving rise to the impressive display you can see here. The Dam was built to supply water to the city of Liverpool and still does.

After 6 years without a proper break, I finally managed to grab a week in the sun in Gran Canaria, down in Maspalomas. Hopefully publish a few photos when I get around to uploading to the server.

Day Trips in February

February was a visit busy month for us. I was lucky enough to secure a ticket to watch Wales beat Italy at the Millenium Stadium.

Holly celebrated her birthday, much to the amusement of Ellen.

Flooding in Gloucester

It can’t have failed to escape your attention that we had a little rain in Gloucester over the last few weeks!

So much so, that all routes from Work to Home where flooded and I could not get home. T had to pick the kids up as myself and colleagues prepared to spend the night at work until the flood water had subsided. Fortunately, by Midnight, the rain had abated and the roads improved enough to attempt the drive home.

Spotted in the lanes around Tewkesbury...Jaws...

Finally made it home at 1am, and the kids came home at breakfast time. We spent the weekend dodging the rain, only for the water to be cut off Sunday PM, due to the flooding to the local water treatment plan. 9 days later we finally got tap water back, but for those 9 days, we have to collect bottled water from the supermarket and water from mobile bowsers just to eat, drink, wash and cleanse ourselves.

H & E were excellent thru, and now we can look forward to daily baths and showers again.

One of the aims since rebuilding the site has been to get a few videos as well as photos onto the site. Although I am presently having a few issues with photos I know this can be resolved by reverting back to a much simpler system but I will persevre for now.

But hopefully now I have solved the video problem.. click on the image below to see a quick clip of the kids. If it works I will be posting a few more.

Its nearly June….

Being applying for a couple of jobs and had an interview that came to nought, so too busy to really update any PC stuff, other than patch the server with the latest security updates.

H has pretty much mastered Windows now and quite happily sits on “her” pc and plays the few educational games on their, or browses the Ceebies site. Thankfully I updated the router a few weeks ago and this has some basic content filtering to cover the moments when I an not there, but will need to look for a more robust solution over the next few months.

H also has the hospital on Friday to examine her ear, make sure no lasting damage from her recent ear infection, so likely to be another weekend far removed from the keyboard.
